Yes, I have a weakness for sweets, treats, and desserts. When I go out for dinner, even though I may be stuffed to the hilt, I still ask for the dessert menu in case a corner in my stomach can be filled. One of my favourite Vancouver bakeries to get an afternoon treat is Faubourg in Kerrisdale. I haven’t tried their afternoon tea offering but I think I might have eaten most of their sweet carbs and macarons…and I adore their macarons.
I’ve had my fill of macarons in the last year or so and I must say that Faubourg and Bel Cafe are pretty much neck to neck in having the best macarons in town. I still have to try Soirette to make the final call ;)
Faubourg usually offers 12 different types of macarons and they constantly change up the macarons and make creative colourful flavours. Their display is a sight for sore eyes
On this particular day, I tried the strawberry black pepper, lavendar earl grey, cassis, mango lime, and cappuccino. And each one, you could distinctly taste the flavour profile of its namesake. A good authentic French macaron should be delicate, a crisp light shell but with a softness upon bite and quality ganache or buttercream. Faubourg macarons are so addictive that I easily inhaled them.
Remember to venture out of downtown and check out other neighborhood for great eat gems. Kerrisdale has a number of great shops and restaurants that’s worth nice day trip…and stop on over to Faubourg for an afternoon treat.
